Revoking Access: Facebook Ceases the Functionality of Groups API, Rendering Social Tool Inaccessible to Groups

Facebook has released a new version of their Graph API, version 19.0, with significant changes. One of the most important changes is the deprecation of the Facebook Groups API, which allows access to content within Facebook Groups. This API will no longer be functional in the next 90 days.

According to Meta, in the past, several external social media tools used Groups API to enable pages to send private replies directly to individuals who posted in groups. However, Meta has stated that they will provide new channels for social media app developers to use without relying on Groups API.

However, TechCrunch has reported that many social media management tools still use Groups API for scheduled automatic posting in groups. With the closure of this API, these tools will no longer be able to perform this function, affecting a large number of customers.

TLDR: Facebook’s latest Graph API update, version 19.0, deprecates the Groups API, impacting external social media tools and scheduled posting in groups. Meta will provide alternative channels for developers, but this change will affect many users.
