Revolt encompassing Sapeon Korea: Two enterprises craft chips from South Korea, conclude merger.

Rebellions and Sapeon Korea, two chip manufacturers for fabless AI designs in Korea, have announced the successful completion of their business merger. Last June, the two companies revealed their merger plans.

The combined business value of the two companies post-merger stands at approximately 1.3 trillion won. Operating under the name Rebellions, with Park Sung-hyun as the CEO, this merger marks a significant move in the industry.

Established in 2020, Rebellions specializes in designing chips for AI applications. On the other hand, Sapeon Korea, a subsidiary of SK Telecom, a major mobile network provider in South Korea, also focuses on AI chip design.

Rebellions’ future business plans include expanding into markets in the United States, Saudi Arabia, Japan, and other key markets with investor interest. Additionally, there are plans to lead in the development of chips for the popular PyTorch framework used in AI.
