Midea Thailand, a manufacturer and distributor of Midea air conditioners, has revealed the interior of their smart factory located in Chonburi province. This factory is the first of its kind to incorporate 5G technology within its operations.
The use of 5G by Midea is limited to the factory network, leveraging technologies from Huawei, China Unicom, and AIS to provide 5G services to devices on the production line. Smart robotic arms, automated transport vehicles, AI-powered product quality inspection systems, and control rooms monitoring sensor statuses all transmit data through the 5G network to enable real-time production monitoring, enhance equipment efficiency, and reduce downtime.
Mr. Pupha Ekkawipat, CEO of AIS Corporate Business Group, highlighted the 5G network’s ability to cover an area of 160,000 square meters, seamlessly connecting three manufacturing plants. Meanwhile, Ms. Yunisi Se, General Manager of China Unicom Thailand, emphasized the significance of 5G2B in powering diverse new business models in the industry.
