Omise, the digital payment service provider, has announced a rebranding back to its original name (Omise) after using the name Opn for over two years. This rebranding aims to enhance the seamless and borderless nature of financial technology.
The goal of this rebranding is to return to Omise’s technological roots, connecting with the technology culture. This includes expanding in size, stability, and capacity to access new technologies in order to globalize payment systems further.
Additionally, Omise is developing an AI-powered payment system that will support businesses of all sizes, from startups to financial institutions, to streamline operations, improve transaction efficiency, and simplify data analysis.
While Omise has been primarily an adopter in AI, the company believes that post-rebranding, it will become an innovator in the increasingly complex financial systems era, necessitating the use of Machine Learning and AI. Testing will soon be open in Thailand and the United States.
Currently, Omise operates in 5 countries (Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, and the United States) serving over 23,000 merchants, offering more than 100 payment methods, with a payment volume of approximately $1.7 billion. The largest industries using Omise are e-commerce, followed by insurance and telecommunications.
Thailand is the largest market, supporting borderless payments, while the United States has the highest payment volume due to its significantly larger GDP compared to Thailand. Omise focuses on niche markets in the United States, given its intense competition.
In Thailand, the Payment Gateway sector continues to grow, with Omise experiencing annual growth higher than the market, especially during the COVID-19 period where infrastructure development saw significant progress.
TLDR: Omise rebrands back to its original name to enhance seamless and borderless financial technology, focusing on technology roots, AI-powered payment systems, and expanding global payment reach.
