The FireSat Low Earth Orbit Satellite Constellation project is an initiative by the Earth Fire Alliance, developed by Muon Space and funded by Google and the Moore Foundation, established by Gordon Moore, the co-founder of Intel. This satellite constellation will be able to capture images of forest fires in an area with a resolution of 5×5 meters, enabling precise fire detection. The fire data will be updated every 20 minutes and processed using algorithms and models developed by Google.
The prototype satellite of FireSat was launched alongside SpaceX Transporter-13 mission on March 14, 2025, to test connectivity and operations. Following this, the actual deployment of the first three satellites is scheduled for 2026, with a total of approximately 50 satellites planned to be launched by 2030.
