Not long after Google open sourced Pebble OS and Eric Migicovsky, the founder of Pebble, announced the launch of a new Pebble watch. Migicovsky recently revealed that it is now possible to code for Pebble OS, compile, and run it on the hardware of the new Pebble watch. Details about this new hardware are still scarce, but Migicovsky mentioned that it will utilize a new chipset, the nRF52840 from Nordic Semiconductor. He will soon fly to Shenzhen to discuss with manufacturers and suppliers.
Migicovsky also mentioned that his new company, Core Devices, will not only develop the new hardware for Pebble, but also work on improving Pebble OS (code on GitHub), enhancing the open-source mobile app Cobble to replace the old Pebble app on mobile devices, and updating the Pebble SDK to allow other developers to create watch faces and apps for the Pebble.
