Unity Engine version 6.1 marks the debut of the first minor version in the 6.x series, adopting a new approach to subversion releases similar to the systems used by Ubuntu or Java today.
Unity 6.x will have long-term support (LTS) for 2 years, with one release per year. The LTS version for 2024 is 6.0, while the LTS version for 2025 is 6.3, set to be released towards the end of the year.
The versions released in the middle of the year will be referred to as Update releases, focusing on testing new features and supporting only the latest version. Unity’s goal is to have multiple Update releases per year without numerical increments. The plan for 2025 includes two releases, 6.1 and 6.2.
