The cybersecurity company Kaspersky has launched the Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool (KVRT) for Linux, previously available on Windows. KVRT is not a full-fledged antivirus that constantly monitors our Linux machines, but rather a tool to scan for hidden viruses or malware. This program can be downloaded for free from the Kaspersky website; however, the trade-off is that it does not automatically update virus databases. To keep the information up-to-date, users must diligently download new files as Kaspersky frequently changes file versions multiple times a day.
KVRT is compatible only with x86-64 CPUs and supports a variety of distributions (full list available). Even if a distribution is not directly supported, there is a high chance that it will still run.
