AYANEO, a manufacturer and distributor of portable PC gaming systems from China, has announced that customers who purchase AYANEO GEEK or AYANEO 2 in 2022 can upgrade their machines with the APU chip for an additional starting price of $499. The upgrade option will be available until June 25.
Originally, both AYANEO GEEK and AYANEO 2 utilized the Ryzen 7 6800U chip on Zen 3+ architecture with RDNA 2, featuring 8 cores. This upgrade will switch to the Ryzen 7 8840U chip on Zen 4 architecture with RDNA 3, boasting 12 cores. There are three options available with varying RAM capacities and prices:
– 16GB RAM for $499
– 32GB RAM for $549
– 64GB RAM for $699
While the chip upgrade from AYANEO seems like a good idea, users may opt to pay an extra $100 to purchase the ROG Ally or Legion Go devices with similar specifications. The chip upgrade comes with a one-year warranty specifically covering motherboard issues, excluding problems caused by users who upgrade SSD or other components.
