Revolutionizing Smart Homes with Home Assistant’s Matter Standard Compatibility

Home Assistant is open-source smart home software officially certified by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) for Matter standards. It is the first open-source project to receive official Matter certification.

Home Assistant already supports controlling smart home devices that comply with Matter standards. The official certification hasn’t brought many changes apart from allowing Home Assistant to advertise more effectively.

In recent times, more smart home devices are starting to support Matter standards. After the Zigbee Alliance rebranded as CSA in 2021, they introduced the Matter standard to enable platforms like Google, Apple, and Samsung to communicate with smart home devices across brands.

Home Assistant supports a variety of communication standards such as Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Thread, Bluetooth, Zigbee, and Z-Wave.
