Rumor: Apple Sets Target for All iPhones Sold in America to Originate from Indian Facilities by 2026

Reports indicate that Apple is planning to restructure iPhone production to accommodate import tax situations from foreign countries, with the goal of having all iPhones sold in the United States manufactured in India by the end of 2026.

If this holds true, iPhone production in India will need to increase by over 60 million units for the American market, on top of the current production capacity. This means that Indian factories will have to ramp up production to 80 million units per year.

Apple has been gradually expanding production at its Indian factories for several years now, aiming to reduce reliance on Chinese factories. Currently, iPhones manufactured in India account for 1 out of every 5 iPhones globally.

TLDR: Apple is looking to shift iPhone production to India to meet import tax requirements, aiming to solely manufacture iPhones for the US market in India by 2026.
