Rumor: MacBook Air M4 to Debut in March, iPhone 17 to Emphasize Video Functionality, Targeting Vloggers

In this week’s edition of the Power On newsletter by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, rumors surrounding Apple have been swirling. Gurman touches on the upcoming iPhone 17 and the new MacBook Air.

Starting with the MacBook Air, Gurman previously hinted at a release in a few weeks. The latest information suggests that Apple will unveil it in March, featuring the new M4 chip in two sizes: 13-inch and 15-inch.

Moving on to the iPhone 17 expected to launch towards the end of the year, Gurman mentions Apple’s aim to target the vlogging and creator market with this device, encouraging users to switch to using their phones for video recording without the need for a separate camera. While details are scarce, it is anticipated that this year’s presentation will focus more on video capabilities.

Lastly, Gurman delves into details about the C1 modem chip used in the iPhone 16e. With various limitations, Apple has not included it in this year’s iPhone 17 plans. However, they are developing the next-generation C2 chip, which will eventually be used in upper models, followed by the C3 chip expected to replace Qualcomm’s modem chips entirely. Although specifics are still unclear, it is speculated that the earliest we may see the C3 chip is in 2028.

TLDR: Apple rumored to launch new MacBook Air with M4 chip in March, iPhone 17 targeting vloggers and creators, and future development of C2 and C3 chips to replace Qualcomm’s modems.
