Information on upcoming AMD Ryzen notebook chips for 2025/2026 has been leaked by Chinese hardware leakers known as Golden Pig Update.
In mid-2024, AMD introduced the Ryzen AI 300 notebook chip, codenamed Strix Point, and it will continue to dominate the market in 2025. This new chip will utilize Zen 5 architecture with up to 12 cores and RDNA 3.5 with up to 16 CUs. The upgraded chip will feature slightly faster LPDDR5x-8000 memory and support for DDR5.
A lower-tier notebook chip, Krackan Point, will replace the current Ryzen 8040 Hawk Point. This chip will also use Zen 5/RDNA 3.5 architecture with a maximum of 8 cores and 8 CUs to cater to a different market segment.
The Hawk Point will be rebranded as Ryzen 200 without the AI designation to target a lower market segment.
For gaming and mobile workstation notebooks, the Strix Halo chip will feature Zen 5 architecture with up to 16 cores and RDNA 3.5 with up to 40 cores. The Strix Halo is rumored to use the name Ryzen AI Max+/Max and adopt a new 4-digit GPU code, such as Radeon 8060S.
The upcoming gaming CPU for notebooks with separate GPUs will be the Fire Range R9, using Zen 5/X3D architecture with onboard GPUs.
