Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has reported the latest information on what Apple will announce at the upcoming WWDC24 developer conference next week, with artificial intelligence or AI being the main focus of the keynote taking up about half of the presentation time.
Apple will introduce a new AI system called Apple Intelligence on iPhones, iPads, and Macs at the event and will announce a collaboration with OpenAI to bring AI chatbots for users to utilize. Gurman summarized the upcoming features of Apple Intelligence as follows:
AI will be integrated into various apps used regularly.
The AI feature will be in beta status, and users must opt-in to use it.
iPhones must be 15 Pro or higher, while Macs and iPads must have M1 chips or higher.
AI will assess whether it can work on the device, and if not, will connect to OpenAI’s system.
Apple will take adequate time to explain the privacy aspects of data sent to the cloud for AI processing.
Safari will have a content summary feature that can be used in Notes, Mail, and other apps.
Messages and Mail will enhance the ability to respond automatically.
Siri will support continuous commands.
Xcode will have AI assistant tools similar to GitHub Copilot.
Mail will add automatic email categorization feature like Gmail.
Custom emojis can be created using AI.

Additionally, there are new features unrelated to AI, including:
The iPhone home screen can freely move icons.
Control Center will add music control buttons.
Settings will have a redesigned layout for improved search across iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.
Messages will have more messaging options, scheduled messaging, and RCS support.
