This news confirms previous reports from the latest Power On newsletter by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg that Apple is gearing up to unveil new Mac and iPad models in a few weeks in October.
The Mac lineup will include the MacBook Pro with M4 chips – M4 Pro and M4 Max, retaining the same design with options for 14-inch and 16-inch sizes, iMac with M4 chips possibly featuring updated accessories like Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and Magic Trackpad with USB-C connectivity, and a redesigned Mac mini with M4 and M4 Pro models in a smaller form factor similar to Apple TV. These new Mac products will highlight Apple Intelligence as a key selling point.
As for the iPad lineup, two models are expected to be introduced, including the iPad mini 7 addressing screen flickering and jelly scrolling issues while supporting Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, and an entry-level iPad 11 model. However, Gurman did not provide further details on this aspect.
Gurman also disclosed additional information on the Apple Watch SE, confirming Apple’s plan to use a hard plastic casing material instead of aluminum to lower costs and attract more children to the market. Despite facing efficiency challenges, Apple has not abandoned this plan.
