Rumors Swirl: Apple to Commence Production of iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max Models from First-Ever Indian Factory

Reports suggest that Apple is gearing up to kick off the assembly line for the iPhone 16 Pro at the Foxconn factory in India soon. This development is intriguing as the Indian factories have never assembled the iPhone Pro models before, with previous assembly work predominantly handled by Foxconn facilities in China.

The report indicates that Apple has been planning this move for several years before finally deciding to commence the assembly of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max in part in India. Previously, the Foxconn factory in India has been responsible for assembling the regular iPhone models and the Plus models starting from the iPhone 14, following a similar transition timeline of about 3 weeks after China. Once the iPhone 15 was introduced, assembly responsibilities shifted solely to the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.

It is expected that the assembly of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max in India will commence after Apple unveils the products in early September, making the initial batches of iPhones sold in India imports from other countries. Subsequently, they will transition to being produced locally in India.
