Market research company GfK reported sales figures for gaming hardware and software from retail stores in the United Kingdom in April 2024.
Sales of gaming hardware consoles in April decreased by 39% overall, with a total of 71,000 units sold. Since the beginning of 2024, cumulative sales for Xbox Series decreased by 25%, PS5 by 25%, Nintendo Switch by 38%, and overall console sales down by 30%.
Sales of gaming accessories increased by 7% compared to April last year but decreased by 28% from March this year. The DualSense White controller claimed the top spot, followed by the Xbox Wireless White controller.
Software game sales in the UK, based on Games Sales Data (GSD) including physical and digital formats, decreased by 7% from the previous year. The top-selling game was Fallout 4 from the Fallout series, surpassing long-time champion EA Sports FC 24, which now ranks second. In the top 10, Fallout: New Vegas returned at 8th place, and Fallout 76 ranked 9th.
