Yoon Seok-woo, the head of Samsung’s display business, announced at a press conference in South Korea that Samsung’s smart TVs will be guaranteed to receive Tizen operating system updates for a whopping 7 years. This policy will affect all TVs sold in 2024 and some models from 2023. At this event, Samsung also showcased new capabilities of the Tizen operating system such as automatic subtitle translation to Korean when watching foreign programs, Generative Wallpaper that creates backgrounds based on AI commands, and AI-enhanced image adjustments for the visually impaired.
Samsung stated that there are currently 270 million Tizen smart TVs in the market, making it the largest smart TV platform in the market. Samsung also holds the global TV market share championship with a 28.8% market share. Source – Business Korea
