Samsung has announced the commencement of mass production of LPDDR5X 12GB and 16GB memory technology with a 12-nanometer footprint, the slimmest in the industry, and low-power DRAM. Samsung states that with the advancement of chip packaging technology, they are able to deliver thin LPDDR5X DRAM, allowing smartphones to have increased airflow space to support future high-performance tasks such as on-device AI processing. This LPDDR5X DRAM utilizes a 4-stack LPDDR DRAM package with a total thickness of 0.65 millimeters. The main customers are smartphone manufacturers, and Samsung has plans to produce 24GB with a 6-stack package and 32GB with an 8-stack package in the future.
