Apple and Google have introduced a novel data transfer tool, enabling Google Photos users to directly migrate data to iCloud Photos.
Previously, Apple and Google had released a tool to transfer data from iCloud Photos to Google Photos since 2021. This new transfer tool is simply a reversal of that process.
These data transfer tools from both companies are part of the Data Transfer Project, an open-source initiative focused on developing cross-platform data migration tools. The migration from Google Photos to iCloud Photos will be made available to everyone in the coming weeks.
To initiate the data transfer, Google Photos users can navigate to Google Takeout, select data export from Google Photos, choose Apple – iCloud Photos as the destination, log in with their Apple ID, and authorize the direct data transfer, eliminating the need to download files beforehand.
