Shield TV from NVIDIA Receives Update, Despite Nearly 9-Year-Old Original Model Still Receiving Updates

NVIDIA has released a software update for its Shield TV lineup, including the original Shield TV box that was first released in 2015, making it the longest-supported Android device to date (9 years and counting). The software updates for Shield devices have been sporadic, with the previous one in July 2023 and now jumping to October 2024. This latest update focuses on bug fixes and is labeled as version 33.2.0.252.

The Shield TV family consists of 3 models: the original 2015 model, the 4K upgrade model from 2017, and the latest model from 2019, all available in both box and tube form factors.
