Should the Community Embrace MCP – Sundar Pichai, the CEO, Asks

Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, asks the community whether they should support MCP or not. Following the proposal of the MCP standard by Anthropic and OpenAI, Google has announced its support, making them the largest developer of artificial intelligence LLM that has not yet supported it.

The majority of the feedback indicates a desire for Google to support MCP, as many do not want to develop separate tools for Google. The Model Context Protocol (MCP) allows developers to create a variety of tools for LLM, such as opening internal documents or enabling AI control. Currently, not only will developers of LLM support MCP, but many applications also support it, such as Cursor, CLine, or Microsoft’s Copilot. The number of applications with MCP server integration is rapidly increasing.

TLDR: Sundar Pichai inquired about supporting the Model Context Protocol (MCP), with Google announcing its backing, becoming a prominent developer of LLM yet to support it. The community is keen on Google supporting MCP, as it streamlines tool development and integration for LLM applications.
