The Singapore government has announced an investment budget of $295 million Singapore dollars, equivalent to around 8,000 million baht, over the next 5 years. This budget is allocated for the development of 100 master’s and doctoral researchers, along with various support to establish quantum computers in the country.
Singapore has been investing in quantum computer research since 2002, totaling $400 million Singapore dollars, or roughly 11,000 million baht, with approximately 450 researchers currently involved in this field.
Heng Swee Keat, the Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore, acknowledges that quantum computer technology still needs to overcome several limitations before it can be truly utilized in business operations. However, Singapore’s quantum strategy aims to develop its own processor to continue investing in this area.
