Singapore Authorities Arrest Suspects Linked to Illegal Export of Inauthentic NVIDIA Chips – NVIDIA Stock Plummets by 8%

The authorities in Singapore have apprehended 3 individuals linked to the export process of servers belonging to a US-based company to countries under technology export restrictions. These servers contain new NVIDIA chips.

The arrests followed the US Department of Commerce announcing an investigation into whether China’s DeepSeek AI model accessed the use of AI chips under the export ban. NVIDIA later clarified that high sales in Singapore were due to billing addresses of customers, often located in Singapore, while the machines were exported elsewhere.

Singapore officials revealed that most servers were identified as being shipped to Malaysia, prompting further investigations to verify the actual destination.

NVIDIA declined to comment on the report. However, the news led to an 8% drop in NVIDIA stock prices, with related server companies like Super Micro dropping by 11% and Dell by 6%.
