Crystal Dynamics has announced the revival of the iconic Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 for current-gen consoles and PC. Originally released in 1999 on PC, PS1, Dreamcast, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver garnered high praise and commercial success (averaging an 88/100 review score and selling over 1.5 million units). The story follows the vampire-turned-wraith Raziel, who seeks revenge against the vampire lord Kain, his former master.
The success of Soul Reaver 1 led to the release of Soul Reaver 2 in 2001 (during the PS2 era) and subsequent installments in the same universe, expanding the Legacy of Kain franchise, considered the second most prominent series by Crystal Dynamics after Tomb Raider.
The remastered versions of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 are being developed by the studio Aspyr under the Embracer Group, following their successful remaster of Tomb Raider 1-3.
