South Korean police have reported the arrest of a group of ticket scalpers in the latest round of crackdown. A total of 7 individuals were apprehended after violating the Public Performance Act law in 2023. This law prohibits the use of automated systems to purchase tickets for resale, deeming it unlawful.

Among the suspects detained, a woman aged between 20-30 years old has a record of purchasing and reselling 331 tickets, generating profits of up to 100 million won or approximately 2.5 million baht. The group focused on staging popular plays like Dracula, while others saw a decline in their earnings.

Authorities in South Korea have cautioned the public that the penalty for this offense includes a maximum of 1 year in prison and a fine not exceeding 10 million won. Additionally, police may also consider filing additional charges related to computer laws.
