SSI: The Artificial Intelligence Firm Founded by Ilya Sutskever Secures $1 Billion Investment from Venture Capitalists

Safe Superintelligence, or SSI, an artificial intelligence startup founded by Ilya Sutskever, former chief scientist and co-founder of OpenAI, has secured over $1 billion in funding from investors including NFDG (led by Nat Friedman and Daniel Gross, SSI’s CEO), a16z, Sequoia, DST Global, and SV Angel. The exact valuation of SSI from this funding round has not been disclosed, but sources close to the matter told Reuters that the current valuation of SSI is at $5 billion.

SSI has outlined plans for the use of this latest round of funding, which will be directed towards investing in computational power and hiring a team of researchers and engineers.
