Starfield Revealed: Player Base Soars to 14 Million, Promises Yearly Content Updates, Fallout 5 Not Rushed

Todd Howard from Bethesda recently appeared on the YouTube channel MrMattyPlays and shared some insights about Bethesda’s future game projects.

The game Starfield currently boasts over 14 million players, with an average playtime of 40 hours per person, and will release content updates every year. Following the Shattered Space expansion in 2024, there will be another expansion next year.

Fallout 76 continues to receive ongoing content updates, with no rush to release Fallout 5 or plans for remakes of older Fallout or The Elder Scrolls games as rumored previously.

Bethesda’s games collectively have a monthly player base of 25 million, marking a significant milestone for the studio. The focus is on retaining this player base across their three main franchises: Starfield, Fallout, and The Elder Scrolls, while also developing new games alongside.

Bethesda currently operates five development teams: Starfield, Fallout 76, The Elder Scrolls 6, a mobile game team, and an external studio support and coordination team.

TLDR: Todd Howard discussed Bethesda’s upcoming game projects on MrMattyPlays, including Starfield’s player base, ongoing content updates for Fallout 76, and the studio’s focus on retaining players and developing new games.
