Stockholders of Microsoft propose company invest some funds in Bitcoin – Board recommends stockholders object.

Microsoft is preparing for its annual shareholders’ meeting on December 10th, where shareholders can submit proposals for consideration. One intriguing proposition revolves around Bitcoin.

A group of investors has suggested that Microsoft allocate a portion of the company’s funds to invest in Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies, arguing that historically Microsoft has invested its cash in debt securities or corporate bonds, yielding lower returns than inflation rates. Although digital asset investments carry high risks and short-term volatility, they could help Microsoft hedge against inflation. The proposal suggests investing no more than 1% of the company’s cash.

However, this proposal is met with opposition from Microsoft’s board, who recommend shareholders vote against it. They point out that Microsoft already has a team evaluating various asset investments, including Bitcoin, and assure that the company’s assets are already protected against inflation.
