Strategically Acquiring Cutting-Edge Chips: OpenAI’s Profound Purchase Endeavors with Sam Altman Scholarly Investment

WIRED reports that in 2019, OpenAI expressed their intention to acquire chips from Rain, a startup that manufactures artificial intelligence chips funded by Sam Altman. The information was disclosed to investors that Rain is currently enticing for investments.

Altman invested in Rain in 2018, and just one year later, OpenAI expressed their desire to purchase chips worth $51 million from the company. Rain expects to begin testing the chips this year and aims to deliver the actual chips next year.

Altman himself has invested in various businesses while serving as the CEO of OpenAI. This year, he introduced Worldcoin, an online identity verification system. However, Worldcoin was criticized for unauthorized collection of personal data and using incentives to persuade individuals to provide their facial images. Additionally, Altman has invested in several other startups.

Although the specific reasons for Altman’s eventual departure from the board (despite rejoining later) were not disclosed by WIRED, it is suggested that he struggled to manage multiple endeavors simultaneously and had difficulty aligning with the company.

TLDR: OpenAI planned to purchase chips from Rain, a startup in which Sam Altman invested. Altman is the CEO of OpenAI and has invested in other businesses as well. Altman’s departure from the Board of Directors may be due to his inability to juggle multiple projects and align with the company’s goals.
