Undead Labs, a studio under the Xbox umbrella, has unveiled a new trailer for State of Decay 3, the latest installment in the open-world survival zombie game series. The first installment was released in 2013, followed by the second in 2018.
Announcing the development of State of Decay 3 back in 2020, Undead Labs took their time before releasing this trailer. The game continues to focus on cooperative survival against hordes of zombies, featuring the classic permadeath system. However, the world is now expanded, offering a deeper and wider storytelling experience.
State of Decay 3 also shares technology with Obsidian Entertainment, a studio under the Microsoft umbrella known for the game Grounded. This collaboration aims to enhance the cooperative gameplay and create a stable shared world between players. Additionally, they are partnering with The Coalition, known for Gears of War, to leverage expertise in Unreal Engine 5.
A release date for the game has not yet been announced.
TLDR: Undead Labs, in collaboration with Xbox, teases State of Decay 3 with a new trailer, promising an expanded open-world experience with shared world and online co-op features. A release date is still pending.
