Fortune reports insights from sources within Meta indicating that despite Meta’s efforts to push forward with their open-source AI model called Llama, the coding tool used internally by the company called Metamate also enhances its operations with AI models from various companies, including OpenAI’s GPT-4 and Meta’s own Llama.
Metamate is a code-writing assistance tool similar to GitHub CoPilot that can answer questions with the help of AI. It selects from either Llama or GPT-4 for assistance.
In the realm of Mark Zuckerberg, not only does Meta use GPT-4, but the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, founded by Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan, is also a client of OpenAI. The organization is developing educational AI tools powered by Generative AI, derived from ChatGPT. This may not be surprising, as Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, is also a consultant for this organization.
It may be simplistic to say that no AI model fully caters to all needs, as even Meta opts to use competing models in some cases.
