TCL’s QLED TV Under Fire for Alleged Lack of Quantum Dot Technology as Advertised

Hansol Chemical, a Korean supplier that manufactures QLED panels for Samsung, has hired two global industry inspectors, SGS and Intertek, to verify standards and issue certifications in various industries. The inspection of TCL’s QLED screens revealed that three TV models, TCL C755, C655, and C655 Pro (only two models sold in Thailand), do not utilize Quantum Dot technology as advertised.

These three models do not contain cadmium or indium in their panels, which are crucial components in the production process of QLED panels with Quantum Dot technology. TCL responded by citing data from their Quantum Dot film supplier, Guangdong Region Advanced Material, indicating the presence of cadmium in their panel film.

Interestingly, Hansol’s inspection process involves dismantling TV components from actual sales, while TCL relies on documentation from their suppliers.
