Katsuhiro Harada, the producer of the Tekken series, revealed on the AIAS Game Maker’s Notebook podcast that the Tekken series has sold a total of 55 million units, with 51% of sales coming from Europe and another 30% from the United States. Tekken 7 alone has sold 11.8 million units.
The latest installment, Tekken 8, managed to sell over 2 million units within the first 3 weeks of release, outpacing Tekken 7 significantly, which took 2 months to reach the same milestone. This has brought the total sales of the Tekken series to 57 million units.
Currently, many players are expressing discontent with Tekken 8 adding the Tekken Fight Pass system without prior announcement. This system operates similarly to the popular Battle Pass in Free to Play games, where players must complete daily and weekly missions in online matches to level up their in-game characters. As players level up, they receive various rewards such as new clothing items within the game.

TLDR: Katsuhiro Harada discussed the Tekken series’ impressive sales figures, with Tekken 8 surpassing expectations by selling 2 million units in just 3 weeks. However, the addition of the Tekken Fight Pass system has sparked criticism among players.
