The CEO of Saber Interactive posits that games priced at $70 will face obsolescence, prompting developers to focus on mid-sized projects instead.

Matthew Karch, the CEO of Saber Interactive and former CEO of Embracer Group, recently sat down with IGN to discuss the current status of Saber post-Embracer and the $70 AAA game price point.

Matthew told IGN that games selling for $70 will disappear like the dodo bird that went extinct in 1681, as game developers are finding ways to reduce costs and mitigate risks in producing AAA games. He cited early incidents with Cyberpunk 2077 and Ubisoft games in the past 2-3 years as examples of quality inconsistencies. He added that game developers should focus on creating medium-sized games like Helldivers 2.

Currently, Saber Interactive is a game studio positioned between independent game studios and AAA game publishers, with teams consisting of Nimble Giant (Star Trek Infinite), 3D Realms (Ion Fury), and 4A Games (Metro).
