Samsung is planning to expand its Galaxy AI feature to other models in the first half of this year, although specific details about which models have not been released. Patrick Chomet, Head of Customer Experience at Samsung, recently confirmed in an interview with TechRadar that the AI feature of the Galaxy S24 will only be available on flagship smartphones and tablets in 2023 (S23 Series, Z Flip 5, Z Fold 5, Tab S9 Series). He also stated that the previous flagship model, Galaxy S22, will not receive an update.
Chomet explained that the AI feature requires high-level processing from both the CPU and GPU, which the Galaxy S23 possesses adequately. Interestingly, TechRadar pointed out that both the Galaxy S22 (no update) and the Galaxy S23 FE (with an update) use the same Exynos 2200 chipset. Chomet’s response was that Samsung’s policy is to update only the latest generation of devices (“For now, we’re limiting Galaxy AI to last-gen devices.”)
