The demise of cancer claims former YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki and Google employee, ranked 16th.

Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet, posted a message on X, informing that Susan Wojcicki, former CEO of YouTube, has passed away at the age of 56 after a 2-year battle with cancer. He expressed that everyone will remember Susan and extended sympathy to her family.

Dennis Troper, Susan’s husband, shared on Facebook that Susan was diagnosed with lung cancer 2 years ago. The couple was married for 26 years and had 5 children together.

Susan Wojcicki was one of the early employees of Google, starting in 1999 as the 16th employee and the first marketing manager. She even provided office space in her garage for Google’s co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin.

Susan’s notable achievements include co-creating Image Search, overseeing Google’s advertising system, and suggesting the acquisition of YouTube, where she later became the CEO.

Susan announced her resignation in February last year, citing a desire to spend time with family, focus on health, and pursue personal projects.
