Dr. David L. Mills, also known as Dave Mills, was the brilliant mind behind NTP, or Network Time Protocol, a method used to synchronize computer time and network systems globally. It is with great sadness that we announce his passing on January 17th at the age of 85. Vinton Gray Cerf, one of the co-creators of TCP/IP, reported this unfortunate news.

Cerf described Dave Mills as an exemplary individual who contributed to the foundation of the early internet. Mills developed NTP in 1985 as a solution to the time synchronization issues prevalent in internet network devices at that time.
