Casey Hudson, the former studio manager at BioWare and creator of the Mass Effect series, departed from BioWare in 2020 to establish his own game studio named Humanoid Studios in 2021. He announced the development of a new cyberpunk-style game that is unrelated to any existing franchise.
After 3 years, Humanoid Origin (the rebranded name in 2023) announced the cancellation of the game project and the permanent closure of the studio, laying off all employees. This decision was made due to the inability to secure sufficient funding to sustain the studio.
Information from LinkedIn indicated that Humanoid Origin had around 70 employees.
