The innovative iOS 18.2 app Find My now allows users to share location links of AirTags with individuals outside their Contacts for collaborative tracking purposes.

In the recent iOS 18.2 beta 2 release for developers, Apple has added new functionality to the Find My service, allowing users to share the location data of items such as AirTags or other tracking devices with people who are not friends or family members. Previously, location sharing was limited to a select group of close contacts in iOS 17.

Apple recommends using this feature in cases of lost items and for contacting airlines for assistance or anyone trusted to help locate lost items. In Find My, when creating a location sharing link for someone else, the link can be accessed publicly and is valid for 1 week. Apple also keeps a record of which device and when the link was accessed.

Additionally, Find My now offers the option to display contact information if a user finds a device or AirTag marked as missing, showing the phone number and email to contact the owner.
