The Predicaments of SanDisk Extreme Pro SSD: Unveiling Intricacies Arising from Internal Design, Not Firmware.

It appears that the issue with the SanDisk Extreme Pro SSD, which was previously highlighted for causing sudden data loss in certain models, is not a firmware problem as Western Digital stated. According to Attingo, a data recovery specialist, this problem stems from design and manufacturing flaws.

Markus Häfele, the managing director of Attingo, informed FutureZone, a German media outlet, that the components used in the SSD are too large for the circuit board, resulting in weak connections (such as high resistance and high temperature) that are prone to breakage. Additionally, he mentioned that the adhesive material used to secure the components tends to generate air bubbles and easily fractures.

However, Markus has not concluded whether the cause of the SanDisk Extreme Pro SSD issue is due to cost cutting in production or the components used, or both. Nevertheless, it seems that this problem has affected multiple product lines, including the SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD and SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable SSD. Nonetheless, it seems that these damages have been addressed by utilizing a special epoxy resin to secure oversized components.

This suggests that Western Digital may have been aware of the hardware issues in their products, yet the newer versions still encounter these problems. Consequently, customers have chosen to send their products for repair and data recovery services provided by Attingo instead.

TLDR: The SanDisk Extreme Pro SSD data loss issue is not caused by firmware, but rather by design and manufacturing flaws. The use of oversized components and weak connections, as well as the tendency for adhesive material to generate air bubbles and fractures, contribute to these problems. It is unclear whether cost cutting or the components used is the main cause. Western Digital customers have opted for data recovery services provided by Attingo instead.
