Canonical has announced the release of Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, codenamed Noble Numbat, marking the 10th long-term support (LTS) version of Ubuntu (the first being 6.04 LTS).

New features in Ubuntu 24.04 LTS include:

– The Ubuntu Desktop installer now uses the revamped Ubuntu Server installer built with Flutter, simplifying image management for administrators using a unified tool.
– Improvements to Ubuntu on Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) with support for cloud-init for image customization.
– Support for running confidential VMs on the cloud to secure running workloads, starting with Azure VMs in preview.
