The Unveiling of Microsoft and OpenAI’s Plan to Build a New Data Center to Support AI with an Investment of Over 3.6 Trillion Baht.

Report from The Information reveals that Microsoft and OpenAI have a high investment data center project amounting to $100 billion (3.6 trillion baht) located in the United States. Within it, there will be an AI supercomputer with internal code currently referred to as “Stargate,” set to launch in 2028.

The reason behind this new data center construction is the increasing demand for Generative AI, leading to the need for a data center that can support advanced data processing and management, surpassing traditional data centers.

The development plan for the Microsoft and OpenAI supercomputer is divided into 5 phases, with phase 3 currently in progress. According to the supercomputer development plan, phase 4 will be introduced in 2026, followed by phase 5, Stargate, in 2028. Sources mention that the processing chips used will not come from NVIDIA but from other companies.

OpenAI has not provided comments on this report, while Microsoft simply stated that the company has existing plans for the data center and infrastructure to accommodate future AI demands.
