Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, has announced that the Threads social platform, which focuses on text-based content, has now surpassed 175 million Monthly Active Users (MAUs). Threads will celebrate its 1-year anniversary in just a few days.
Previously, Elon Musk, the owner of X and Twitter, which are platforms that Threads aims to compete with, revealed user numbers showing MAUs touching 600 million accounts, with Daily Active Users (DAUs) estimated to be about half. If this trend continues, Threads may require some more time to reach a similar level.
Threads has also disclosed additional statistics, with approximately 63% of posts being text-only, and over 50 million tags created. The top three popular tags are PhotographyThreads, BookThreads, and GymThreads.

TLDR: Threads, a text-focused social platform, has garnered over 175 million MAUs and is set to mark its 1-year milestone soon. In comparison, competitor platforms like Twitter owned by Elon Musk boast higher user numbers, indicating a potential longer path for Threads to achieve similar success.
