Transformation of Public Posts: Accessible Viewing Despite Blocked Accounts

X is preparing to adjust the way posts are displayed for accounts that users have blocked on their blog. Originally, blocked accounts could not view the posts at all if they were public. This will change to allow viewing of the content of the posts, but not allow interaction such as replies, retweets, quotes, or likes.

This information was reported by app researcher Nima Owji, with Elon Musk, the owner of X, later confirming the upcoming change. The block command will now only prevent an account from interacting, but not from seeing public posts.

Previously, Musk had mentioned wanting to remove the block function in X and leave only the Mute function. However, this change still maintains almost all functions of the block, except allowing viewing of posts.

TLDR: X is modifying the block function to allow blocked accounts to view public posts but not interact, confirmed by Elon Musk. Musk had previously considered removing the block function entirely.
