TSMC Reveals Plans for New Fab in Europe, Taiwanese Minister confirms – No concrete timeline yet

Wu Cheng-wen, the Minister of Science and Technology of Taiwan, has revealed that TSMC is planning to construct an additional factory in Europe. Originally, the plan was to build a factory in Dresden, Germany, and construction is currently underway.

However, representatives of TSMC have stated that there is no set timeline for expanding additional factories in Europe. The company is currently proceeding according to previously announced plans and has no new projects added.

TSMC’s factory in Dresden is scheduled to begin production in 2027, becoming TSMC’s first facility in the European region. This factory is a collaboration with Europe’s semiconductor companies Bosch, Infineon, and NXP, with TSMC holding a 70% stake and the remaining companies each holding 10%.
