Ubisoft’s CEO confirms upcoming remakes of select Assassin’s Creed installments to be released more frequently.

Yves Guillemot, the CEO of Ubisoft, in an interview on Ubisoft’s own website, shared the company’s future direction. Currently, the company is focusing on two main genres of games – action-adventure open-world. Recent works in this genre include Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin’s Creed Shadows. They have enhanced the game engines Snowdrop and Anvil to support these types of games.

Games as a Service (GaaS) are online live service games like Rainbow Six Siege, which has been successful due to consistent player feedback. Another game, XDefiant, recently launched and already has 11 million players, although it is not without its challenges.

Guillemot mentioned that Assassin’s Creed Shadows incorporates various new technologies, such as a weather system that affects gameplay. He hopes that players will experience the ancient beauty of Japan in this series with two gameplay modes within one game.

For the future of the Assassin’s Creed series, he announced plans to remake some older games to offer players a modernized gaming experience. The release schedule for new Assassin’s Creed games will be more frequent but not yearly. Additionally, the game Assassin’s Creed Hexe will provide a significantly different experience from Shadows.
