Ubuntu version 24.10, codenamed Oracular Oriole, introduces some new features:

The kernel version 6.11 follows a new policy, always using the latest kernel version.
kdump-tools have been added as a default in some images to quickly analyze kernel crash dumps for troubleshooting.
GNOME 47 and the retro Warty Brown color theme celebrate 20 years of Ubuntu, harkening back to the original Warty Warthog version that used a brown theme.
Added Permissions prompt for app access rights (similar to Windows’ UAC or mobile operating systems).
Support for OpenVEX and OSV formats for standardized vulnerability reporting.
New software package versions include Rust 1.80.
Java packages OpenJDK 21 and OpenJDK 17 have passed TCK testing for Java SE compatibility.
Added Valkey package, a project separated from Redis, which will also be ported back to Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.
