Unconfirmed: America Considers Blocking DeepSeek with Minimum Ban on State Officials’ Devices Usage

The Wall Street Journal reports from inside sources within the White House that the administration of President Donald Trump is considering issuing a block order on DeepSeek in government devices. This evaluation is driven by security concerns, as there is insufficient clarity from DeepSeek on what data the chatbots are collecting from users and what information they can access.

The initial course of action is to issue a directive prohibiting the download of the DeepSeek app on government devices. However, if further restrictions are deemed necessary, it may escalate to banning the DeepSeek app from app stores and limiting cloud service providers in America that can offer any AI models from DeepSeek.

Previously, certain organizations such as the United States Navy or the state of Texas have already banned the installation of DeepSeek on work devices.
