[Unconfirmed] Apple Releases Approximately 100 Employees, Impacting Apple News and Apple Books

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple has reportedly laid off approximately 100 employees in the Services business unit, including the engineering department. Services affected by the layoff include Apple News and Apple Books.

Following this round of layoffs, Apple is adjusting its strategy in the Services business. While Apple News will continue to be prioritized, Apple Books will see a decrease in importance. This decision may be attributed to the subscription model options available, with Apple News introducing Apple News+ while Apple Books, which has been around for a while, has yet to offer a subscription option.

This latest round of layoffs by Apple marks the fourth reported this year, with previous layoffs affecting the Siri team, microLED hardware, and self-driving car division.

TLDR: Apple has let go of 100 employees in the Services department, impacting Apple News and Apple Books. This is the fourth round of layoffs this year, with a strategy shift towards prioritizing Apple News over Apple Books.
